Halloween in Salem
Written by Scott DiNitto on Monday, November 09, 2009
The witching hour is every hour on halloween day up in Salem, Massachusetts. Being the birthplace of the legends of witches, I visited Salem this October 30 and competed with Richard using my crappy Kodak EasyShare C653. With a little photoshopping magic, and some witchcraft, I bring you Halloween in Salem, 2009 Before you leave, why not play our podcast in the background? This is the scary and spooky entrance to what turned out to be a beautiful cemetary.
Kind of surprising they forgot to put mother or father's name on the stone. Maybe it was too painful to remember?
This looks like a civil war hero standing guard over the cemetary.
The color you see here was just as vibrant when the photo was taken. Absolutely amazing sunshine.
This dead dude really takes his post seriously...
A small city of gravestones lines the gravescape.
This somehow turned out to be my favorite photo of the day. There's something about this angel that's captivating. I feel like this could also be a Black Sabbath album cover.
This is some famous witching house in Salem. Supposedly, witches were tortured here. Does that make witches terrrrrists?
This yellow tree is what prompted me to shoot this. The leaves really painted themselves nicely this year.
This is the inside of a reportedly haunted hotel in Salem. A few moments earlier, we investigated a haunting in real-time for a guest. Turned out to be a draft opening those doors...
I saw this run-down house all ready for halloween and had to capture it.
The street looked so lonely as autumn demonstrates it's transition to winter.
All I can say is this local man, now immortalized in stone, tried to outlaw spirits! Not witches, but alcohol.
I think it's safe to say he failed. Names in the memory of the bunghole that tried to outlaw it. |
